We also spent one afternoon in Tombstone, The Town to Tough to Die. We watched the legendary Gunfight the wild west is famous for, the shoot out between Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.
It was a fun day with a nice finish at “Big Nose Kate’s Saloon” built in 1881 for a beer, burger and some music.
We went into the legendary “Bird Cage Theater Museum”, where the “Soiled Dove’s” plied their trade in velvet draped cages.
The second afternoon we spent at the amazing movie set just outside of Benson at the Gammons Gulch. This Movie Set, re-created as a 1800’s Old West town in the high dessert of Cochise County. It is the home of Jay Gammon’s and his Wife and has been used by many Hollywood Producers to shoot movies away from the noise and light polluted of towns and cites. The Gammons Family has built and preserved this old town movie set which has been used for many old Westerns. Jay’s father was a personal assistant to John Wayne so acting is in Jay’s blood,he has been an actor in some of the production shoots on this property. He said when they shoot there he collects about $7,500.00 a day. He told many interesting stories and showed us many pictures of famous actors and actress and told of their personalities.
What a place… with countless antiques, many donated.
