4/10 & 11 /18 Tuesday and Wednesday Alpine, Tx

We spent the last two day seeing the sights along this desert area where we saw the the MacDonald Observatory.  This was most interesting, however much of it was over my comprehension.
To get to the observatory we took the road that is the highest public road in Texas, elevation of 6,791.
This is the Hobby-Eberly telescope. It is used to aid in the study of the Milky-way. The guide showed us the movement and rotation of this telescope during our guided tour.

After Dinner we headed out to see the mystical Marfa Lights, these lights are in the night sky and remain a mystery.   These lights are amazing and have yet to be identified.  If you look carefully you can see what our camera could pick up but the naked eye sees much more.  They were first seen by a cowboy in 1883.  They have built a small rest area for all the night tours that come there.

This is a picture of a Roadrunner.  We saw two of them today but failed to get our own picture...Spotting them is very rare so we have read, so we felt fortunate.

The Big Bend National Park was Wednesdays adventure... On the way to the Rio Grande River.
This is gazing toward Mexico, the Rio Grande and the Elena Canyon.

Bert putting his feet in the Rio Grande.  Mexico is just across the river, just a stones throw away.

A closer view of the canyon.     Two people swimming, NO IT IS NOT John and Kay!!

When we made it down to the canyon of the Rio Grande! 97 Degrees... Hot, hot, hot!
