Visited the Corn Palace

This was a great stop and was a free attraction.
(Boy I have made Grandpa Hicks proud the last two days!)

The outside of the building is covered with Murals made completely by corn and natural products.  Very impressive using lots of corn--275,000 colorful ears that are sliced and nailed into place by hand onto a hand drawn canvas of black tar paper.  The murals are replaced each year with a different theme.  The work  begins in the spring and is complete by the fall with the theme of that  year.  The Corn Palace is under construction and the expected cost is 7 Million dollars.

Now we are off to the Famous Wall Drug Store, Wall South Dakota.

  1. Okay campers, inquiring minds want to know: what is your favorite part about the trip so far? Was it an event, a location, food, etc?

  2. We liked the Corn Palace, but we're very disappointed in Wall Drugs. Something like South of the Border. Enjoying your blogging.
